Erskineville is famous for its village atmosphere only 5km from Sydney’s CBD. Erskineville began as one of the earliest grants in the colony of NSW given to the superintendent of convicts Nicholas Devine. Devine left his property to his carers the Rochford’s in 1830. The estate was then subdivided and part sold to George Erskine who built Erskine Villa on the site. In 1893 it became the brand new suburb of Erskineville. Erskineville village features cafes, pubs and specialty shops, as well as being located moments walk from Newtown’s famous King Street shops and restaurants.
