What goes on behind the business

Meet the other half of our managing director, whom has a vital role in the business… even if you don’t hear of her often.

If you are subscribed to our communications or follow us on our socials, you will often see big smiling photographs of our Managing Director, Michael Catalano. We have a large focus on Michael as the voice of our business, providing his expert opinion on market conditions, industry movements and all things real estate. However, what you don’t see is all that happens in the background which allows Michael and the team to fulfil their duties to the best of their ability.

Athena Catalano is Michael’s wife and mother of their two children, Myah and Marcus. Athena’s role in the business (whilst not as direct as Michael’s) is just as integral. It’s true what they say; “Behind every successful business owner, is a strong and supportive partner” and this is entirely accurate when describing Michael and Athena’s relationship.

Michael and Athena have been together since the young age of 16, and have extended their relationship beyond ‘high-school sweethearts’, raising a family in Sydney’s inner-west. They have been through most of their lives together, and have used their strong bond to their advantage, taking over and running the True business to make it what it is today.

Running a business and working a business simultaneously is a task that any business owner would agree is the hardest part of the job. However, many successful business owners put their success down to the network of supportive friends and family that they have around them who are vital in allowing them to be their best.

Athena works part-time in our office at True in the spare moments she has free from her other job and the demanding role of being a parent. When we asked Michael what he thought about this topic, he had this to say:

“I can’t do what I do without Athena. She helps to control all the chaos in my life so I’m able to turn up to work and be the best person I can be. This is why I’m so grateful to have her in my life”.

In celebration of Mothers Day, we want to raise awareness for supportive mothers and partners, who help keep the gears cranking by being the glue that often holds the business owner (and often the business) together. Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there, here’s to you!
